Phil Renteria

Director of Coaching

Phil Renteria joined Bayside Warriors in January 2023 and has coached and mentored hundreds of players during his time with the club. He now leads our basketball program as Director of Coaching.

Phil brings extensive playing experience to the role. After junior basketball with Melbourne Tigers, he played Big V Championship with Hume City and Corio Bay. He also played professionally in Colombia with Piratas de Bogota before returning to Australia and earning a place on the Melbourne Tigers NBL1 roster.

His coaching experience spans domestic and representative basketball, including head and assistant coaching roles with Hume City and Wyndham. This experience gives Phil a strong foundation in player development and coaching.

As Director of Coaching, Phil leads the development of our coaching program and supports our coaches across the club. He works across the ABBA, MBA, MCBA and SBA competitions, helping create greater consistency in how we coach and develop our players.

Outside basketball, Phil is a full-time architect with a Master of Architecture. His professional background brings another level of structure, planning and problem-solving to his role at BWB, complementing his basketball experience and approach to leading coaches.

For families, Phil provides experienced leadership across our basketball program and a clear connection between our coaches, players and the club.
