Sammy Cartwright

Sammy Cartwright brings strong local playing experience and practical coaching knowledge to Bayside Warriors. He has played domestic and representative basketball across Melbourne with Mentone Mustangs Parkdale Pacers and the Sandringham Sabres. His career includes 12 domestic grand final wins and progression through the Sabres pathway into Youth League and NBL1 South. In 2024 he was Youth League Team MVP and league leading rebounder and in 2025 he was part of the NBL1 South Championship team.

Sammy played Firsts basketball at Mentone Grammar from Year 8 earning full colours MVP honours and AGSV selection. He has also trained in preseason with Melbourne United and competed internationally at the William Jones Cup.

As a coach Sammy focuses on player development. He currently coaches at Mentone Grammar and runs small group and individual sessions with the Sandringham Sabres. He is involved in the Future Sabres program helping players prepare for representative tryouts. His coaching experience also includes domestic teams holiday camps and after school programs.

At Bayside Warriors Sammy keeps things direct. Strong fundamentals. High effort. Consistent improvement. His recent playing experience helps players understand expectations and apply skills under game pressure.
