Friday Rep Development Program 

Helping committed players prepare for Rep success.

 

Our Rep Development (Rep Dev) program provides a high-performance pathway for players aiming to reach representative basketball (VJBL) level. As an advanced domestic basketball club, we created this program in response to increasing demand and the shrinking number of rep team spots available across Victoria.

This program is suitable for:​

• Players who have trialled for rep but were not selected

• Players who have previously played rep and are seeking to return

 

The Rep Dev teams train weekly and play games on Friday nights, replicating the VJBL experience. Players are placed into teams that function as a ‘second team’ alongside their Saturday domestic team—just like most rep players.

Our experienced coaches identify skill gaps and work with each player to improve the areas that matter most in rep selection—skill, attitude, behaviour, teamwork and game IQ. Each player receives tailored feedback and a development plan in the lead-up to rep tryouts (held annually in September/October).

Key Inclusions:

• Weekly Friday night training and games (mirroring rep structure)

• Individual player assessment and development plans

• Coaching that targets rep selection criteria

• Supportive of entering tournaments where eligible​

Eligibility:

Nomination for Rep Dev is based on rep history (e.g. prior involvement, unsuccessful tryouts). Players must demonstrate a genuine commitment to improvement and understanding of the rep pathway.

Family Commitment:

Parents should be aware of the broader rep basketball expectations. While our Rep Dev teams train just once per week, Friday night games may involve travel across the greater Melbourne area. While we aim to secure consistent game venues, this is subject to league allocation.

The program also supports tournament entry for Rep Dev teams where possible, giving players further competitive exposure and readiness.
