Hailing from Maryland in the U.S., Morgan Edwards arrived in Melbourne in December 2023 to continue his basketball career while retracing his late father’s basketball footsteps Down Under. Morgan is an import playing in the Big V. His dad played for the Melbourne Tigers under Lindsay Gaze in the 1970s. Morgan brings a wealth of high-level international basketball experience to Bayside. He began playing basketball at age 2. By age 13, he was a 3x national finalist in a free throw shooting competition, topping out at #2 in the U.S. in 2012 while shooting 96%. Morgan’s AAU team – Erick Green Premier – was coached by NBA player Erick Green’s father and reached as high as the #11 ranking nationally. Several of Morgan’s teammates and competitors have gone on to play in the NBA. Morgan continued to play at the high school and college levels in the US – graduating with a BA from Bowdoin College in 2022 while captaining the basketball team – before playing his first professional season last year in Lithuania. Morgan has also trained with professional clubs in Cuba, Ireland, and Sweden. Morgan’s passion lies with passing on his love of the game to the next generation and serving as a mentor for youth. He has worked as a private basketball trainer and youth coach in the U.S. and Europe. Other experiences include teaching at a high school in Lithuania and working as a primary school English tutor in the U.S.
